My Dad's Funeral

December 13, 2010 will always be a special day for me to remember. My Dad's funeral was held on this day in American Fork, Utah. It was a beautiful day and one that will stand out in my mind. It started out with a viewing and sharing this time with family and friends who were so dear to my Dad. They shared with me special memories of him that really touched my heart. The closing of the casket is very hard. This was a tender moment for my family. The funeral was a beautiful service. The opening song was sung by grandchildren which Nathan, Tyson, and Kline all participated in. All my sisters and myself took part on the program. I spoke about memories of my Dad during my growing up years and thankfully I was able to get through my talk. My Dad's favorite song was "O Divine Redeemer" and a family friend sang the song so beautifully. The funeral was a wonderful recollection of my Dad's life and his service to his family, in the church, and to his country. He was in the Air Force in WWII and the Korean War. He was a proud veteran for this country. At the cemetary he had full military honors with the 21 gun salute and several flags surrounding the gravesite. He had a flag drapped over his casket which was folded and presented to my mom. That was impressive. All the grandchildren were in awe watching the military presentation. Even though this was hard for me to say good-bye to my father it was a beautiful funeral and I felt comfort and peace. I love you, Dad!

Joslyn's FIRST Birthday!!!

My little baby is growing up and now she is one! (I know this is a little late...but I had to get this in!) She is such a delight in our family. She LOVES her brothers and they LOVE her. They all take turns playing with her, taking her on walks, teasing her and wrestling with her. She loves to be with her brothers and gets so excited to see them. We had a fun birthday for her. She got a baby DOLL that I think I was more excited about than her. (I have waited SOOO long to buy a baby doll for my little girl.) But right away she started hugging her baby doll. She was so cute opening her presents. She got some cute clothes, baby doll stroller, Baby Einstein DVD, a little tea set, books, and teddy bear. She was so funny eating her cake...she didn't like the frosting on her fingers. She is ALL GIRL!! Love ya little Joslyn!!!

My heart is heavy...

My father passed away today, December 8, 2010. My heart aches for his presence and his gentle touch. I am sure he is having a wonderful reunion with those who have gone before. He led a great and full life. There are so many special memories I have of my father. He was always there for me and made time for me in his busy life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who will be remembered by so many. I am grateful to be his daughter and a part of such a rich legacy. I love you, Dad.
