My Dad's Funeral

December 13, 2010 will always be a special day for me to remember. My Dad's funeral was held on this day in American Fork, Utah. It was a beautiful day and one that will stand out in my mind. It started out with a viewing and sharing this time with family and friends who were so dear to my Dad. They shared with me special memories of him that really touched my heart. The closing of the casket is very hard. This was a tender moment for my family. The funeral was a beautiful service. The opening song was sung by grandchildren which Nathan, Tyson, and Kline all participated in. All my sisters and myself took part on the program. I spoke about memories of my Dad during my growing up years and thankfully I was able to get through my talk. My Dad's favorite song was "O Divine Redeemer" and a family friend sang the song so beautifully. The funeral was a wonderful recollection of my Dad's life and his service to his family, in the church, and to his country. He was in the Air Force in WWII and the Korean War. He was a proud veteran for this country. At the cemetary he had full military honors with the 21 gun salute and several flags surrounding the gravesite. He had a flag drapped over his casket which was folded and presented to my mom. That was impressive. All the grandchildren were in awe watching the military presentation. Even though this was hard for me to say good-bye to my father it was a beautiful funeral and I felt comfort and peace. I love you, Dad!
